It's about that time of the year again. We are soon to embark on our annual pilgrimage to the Nevada Desert along with approximately 40,000 other friends. This year will be a bit more complicated than normal. We were fortunate enough to live in closer proximity while in San Francisco. Moving to Vancouver, BC means that the distances got larger which translates into more logistics. We also purged a few significant infrastructure items prior to the move. Two vehicles that served very specific purposes: A Vintage Travel Trailer called "Sweet Pea" along with the trusty steed that towed her, a Ford F150 Truck named "Hank".
An interesting factoid is that the Travel Trailer was actually used on the set of Fast and Furious. Here are the images to prove it.
Here is the same trailer but placed in our setting. Not quite as Hollywood style considering Vin and Paul are missing.
What makes this event so amazing is the amount of "User Generated Vehicular Content." Crazy Mad Max style vehicles that make your head spin in bewilderment while saying to yourself, "How did someone find the time, money, and creative energy to make this thing." These amazingly talented people have an incredible dedication and passion to making cool stuff that can actually be driven, and in many cases even send giant columns of fire deep into the night skies.
The point may not be ultra-high performance 0-60 times, or great handling capability, it's all about the imagination, skill and the surreal juxtaposition of these vehicles placed against a stark desert canvas. Who knows what crazy inventions will show up this year, I can't wait to find out!
More soon,
Blizzzz
