Track Guide: Spa Francorchamps
Today is the half way point of our track guides. Hopefully, you have enjoyed the guides and found them useful in your Need for Speed SHIFT career. Today's guide shows you a look at the very tricky track, Spa Francorchamps. It is one of the toughest tracks in the history of Formula One racing, making it an easy decision to include it in SHIFT. The seven-kilometer circuit, which has 21 turns and is home to the F-1 Belgian Grand Prix, has been home to several spectacular crashes during its 84 years of hosting grand prix racing, including one by Canadian racer Jacques Villeneuve that he calls his ‘best-ever crash’ in the Eau Rouge in 1999. Speaking of Eau Rouge, the Eau Rouge-Raidillon combination has ruined races for many drivers in the past and continues to make Spa an exercise in frustration for countless others. After negotiating a nasty hairpin called La Source, drivers head down a straight that crosses the Eau Rouge stream before being launched into a dizzying left-right-left combination of corners with a blind summit. Raidillon, the ‘right’ in that combination, requires incredible driving skill to get around but it leads into a straight perfect for the drivers who survived to move ahead. See how you fare in SHIFT. Enjoy! Tomorrow we'll be featuring the guide for Willow Springs.- NFSDrew
