Powering up in NITRO

One of the coolest things about Need for Speed NITRO is how quickly your fortunes in a race can change if you use power-ups to your advantage.

There are two main power-ups in NITRO: the wrench, and the badge, with each having distinct advantages that can help you turn a last-place finish into a victory.

Power-ups are scattered throughout every track in NITRO’s five city locales. To pick one up, all you need to do is drive through it.

You can only carry one power-up at a time, so be sure you need the one you’re about to drive over before picking it up. Use the +Control Pad to activate your power-ups.

The wrench is important if you want to live your NITRO life on the edge, as driving your car aggressively may lead to extensive damage.

Activating a wrench repairs your car to its original, pristine state.

The badge is a great way to lower your heat level, and you can also raise your opponents’ heat if they’re close enough to you by targeting them with the badge.

Power-ups can be a major part of your success in NITRO if you use them properly. If not, you could find yourself bringing up the rear in more races than you’d like.
