Need for Speed NITRO has been available for nearly two months, and if you were lucky enough to get it under your tree or in your stocking this Christmas, you’re probably wondering how you can improve your performance in the game.
So, being released to the public for the first time ever, here are NFSKirk’s top five tips for getting better at Need for Speed NITRO.
5. Pick a car you’re comfortable with. This cannot be stressed enough, because as soon as you fire up NITRO’s career mode, you’re going to be tossed into some difficult races you may not stand a chance of winning if you’re driving a car you don’t like.
4. In drag races, you’re sunk if you can’t shift. You need to pay close attention to the top of your screen when you’re in a drag race because the HUD will tell you when to shift. If you shift too early or too late, you’ll lose precious seconds needed to beat your opponents, and if you don’t shift at all, you’ll blow your engine.
3. Keep a wrench in your inventory at all times. When you’re driving at NITRO’s high speeds, accidents will happen and your car will get damaged. Carrying a wrench on you will help mitigate the amount of damage you take and allow you to catch up with rivals quicker.
2. Find a control setup you like and stick with it. NITRO can be controlled by five different devices: Wii Remote, Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Wii Wheel, Classic Controller and the Nintendo Gamecube Controller, so you’ll need to find one you like or winning races may be tough.
1. Drift, Drift, Drift. There’s no better way to get past your rivals in NITRO than a well-executed drift. Even the slow, plodding vehicles in NITRO can pull off enough of a drift at high speeds to vault you ahead of your opponents, so use this skill wisely.
