Today was Day 2 of my first PAX experience, and I have to say it was easily comparable to the first day, which was totally awesome.  I was once again manning the EA Need for Speed SHIFT booth where I got to talk to more cool gamers along with some repeat customers that simply wanted to get another chance to play the game. Oh yeah, and I was able to get away from the booth long enough to check out some of the other games there too!

Much like yesterday, I was able to talk to a lot of different people thanks to all the people wanting to check out SHIFT. Today seemed to bring out a lot more hardcore racing fans though. It’s not as if some lesser experienced racing gamers didn’t come out because they did, it’s just that the majority of the gamers that took a crack at the game today seemed to have had a lot of experience with sim-racing games. So I was pleased to hear the good things they had to say about the game. A lot of the praise was coming from the cockpit view, or as we like to call it, the driver’s experience. They absolutely love the attention to detail that NFS has given this view. Also gaining a lot of praise? The new crash dynamic we have in the game. They think it adds a cool yet realistic feel to the game because, as one would assume, you become extremely disorientated after smashing into a wall at 100mph!!

Another cool part of today’s event was that I was able to check out the convention itself! So I went around for about an hour to check out what other games had to offer, and let me tell you, there are some elaborate set ups! I didn’t actually partake in any gaming yet, but that’s because I was taking the advice I gained from the gamers that dropped by the booth (telling me what they think I should try out first) and combining it with what I was seeing. Tomorrow I’m hoping to actually pick up some controllers and see what these games are like! The list I’m interested in checking out: Left For Dead 2, Dante’s Inferno, Diablo 3 and Army of Two. I would add Brutal Legend to the list, but the game has been demoing right behind my booth, so I already know it looks ridiculously cool!

Alright, that’s it for me today. There is a huge Huskies game going on in Seattle tonight that I would like to catch because it’s all the town is concentrated on, so I can’t help but be sucked in!

Day 2 @ PAX = another success!
