Week 11 was a smashing success :) 53 video entries (although it WAS 2 weeks long) is a record for the NFS Hot Lap. It was a pretty competitive challenge as well as there were definitely more than a few lead changes! Thanks a lot for playing!!
That being said, we’re going to change things up this week. How you ask? Well hold on and let me tell you =P
HOT LAP UPDATE – PLEASE READ!
I’ve looked at the way the Hot Lap challenge has grown over the last 11 weeks and starting this week, I’m going to change things up a little bit. The goal in starting the NFS Hot Lap was to have fun racing around in SHIFT, and I think this new format will help us do that to a higher degree :)
The same old rules apply, but the way we are handing out the prize is what’s changing. It will go as follows:
1. The will be one prize and it will be determined via random draw, but remember, you can still enter as many times as you wish :) For example, trilegdog enters a number of entries a week! He's not the only one either!
2. The person with the fastest lap time will be given the responsibility to choose the CAR AND TRACK for the an upcoming NFS Hot Lap challenge. It's kind of like a "winner stays" game :)
This means that yes, the most viewed video will be done away with. The reasoning behind this is that I wanted the focus of the challenge to be less about spamming your friends and more about having fun while zooming around the tracks in SHIFT.
If you have any objections to this please let me know at michael@needforspeed.com. I’m always open to listening to suggestions and we're always tweaking the contest, so don't be afraid to speak up :)
ONWARDS!
The car and track are as follows:
Car: 1967 Shelby GT-500
Track: Laguna Seca
The usual…
Make sure to use the same car and track, keep it to one lap per video, make sure the FULL LAP is recorded, and however you choose to record it, make sure your final time is clearly readable. Post it to your YouTube account and submit it as a response to our Week 12 video (embedded below). And, there’s no limit to the number of video responses you can post, so if you see your best time beaten by someone else, get back in and record a better one. And to make your video easier to track, please remember to tag it with NFS and put a link to needforspeed.com in the video’s description.
As always, if you have any questions, please drop me a line at michael@needforspeed.com and I can help you out.

Are we allowed to modify the GT500 or does it have to stay in stock form?

Hey LIEUTANG,
I know you're disappointed, and I'm sorry about that, but I was hoping to have the competition more about the driving and opening it up to as many people as possible and less about spamming your friends. This way, if the prize is determined by a random draw, it gives everyone a chance at getting the prize and it's less intimidating for newcomers. But there is still incentive for the regulars to come in and test their skills against the rest. There is always a good battle for the top spot, and this way we can reward them for the fight, but we can still make it more fun and open for more people.
I hope you still come back and play, LIEUTANG because you've been a constant in the challenges and I like seeing your responses week to week!
Best,
Mike
