We value our PC gaming fans as much as gamers on any other platform, and we're to make sure that you guys get the gaming experience that you deserve. The first patch, available in the downloads section, addressed some high priority issues. With the second patch, we're getting into the really nitty-gritty, picky stuff that make the difference between a good game, and a great one. Keep an eye out for it!
Here's the word straight from Criterion:
Good news for PC players as we look to make the experience even better for those who have reported difficulties.
We hope to have another update coming through shortly that will look to address the following:
- Groundcover Graphical Errors
When alt-tabbing, the groundcover would start to corrupt, causing random tree images to appear all over the screen.
- Controller Configurations
On some machines controller configurations that have been set up for wheels, pads, etc are not saving correctly to a configuration file. This is now fixed.
- Rare crash when entering the Career map screen
The game sometimes crashes when entering the Career map screen quickly after booting the game.
- Rare crash when streaming graphical data
- Steering response reported as having large dead zone
- Player car engine volume too low
There remains an outstanding crash affecting players with AMD / ATI Radeon graphics cards if they have overridden the AA settings in the control centre. This occurs as you pick an event in the map screen prior to the car select.
Thankfully our friends at AMD/ATI have informed us that this will be fixed in the next release of AMD's drivers (10.12) around the second week of December.
Many thanks to the PC users who have reported problems and who have helped us investigate them further. We will update again when we know when the patch is likely to be with you all. If you find that you are having problems that are not addressed here or in the FAQ, please let us know by visiting bugzilla.criteriongames.com/pc

i contacted EA customer care explaining about the bad frame rate issues on dual cores and also asking them about when the new patch will be released the help they gave me was clean my temp files close all background programs and lower graphics and resolution well i did everything they told me and like i told them the frame rate issue is not the graphics its a bug in the game because everybody i know who has got the game on a dual core is having the same problem so iam certain that EA know about this problem and about the patch they did not metion a thing about it so guys dont put your hopes up. but what gets me angry is this why is there no law against something like this EA have sold a faulty product and have done nothing about it well iam very disapointed in EA and what gets me so angry is i bought this game for a christmas present for my son he was so looking forward for it only to be disapointed but what do EA care aslong as there pockets are getting fatter

I tried to post this 7 times on the forums an each time it was deleted in seconds,
It appears that EA has started deleting posts on certain threads or closing the threads to stop people seeing this so I'll post this one here and elsewhere as well
as this was in response to the fact that EA is running competitions excluding PC owners and refusing to answer the question as to why they are not supplying DLC for the PC versions of some of their games.

This is a copy of the reply I sent on the above thread which was deleted each of the 5 times I posted it before it could be seen by PRL_smee so I'm posting it all over to see what happens who knows mabe they'll ban me for saying what I think
Nice screen shot :) Funny how NFSDrew knew nothing about it eh? and yes I'm pissed the thread was locked and I'm still waiting for a reply from NFSDrew about it, probably because I directly asked him to answer the questions,
I asked, Why no DX10 DX11 support for hot pursuit?
Will shift 2 have it? (if not then they're lying about it being the "Most realistic driving game")
Will there be DLC for all formats and NOT just the consoles versions, if not WHY?
I had asked the EA support team if they knew or could find out and this is what they said:-
denied the same standard of DLC as console owners?
"Response Allan 01/18/2011 10:51 AM Hello,
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Customer Support.
I have reviewed your e-mail and understand that you want to know about the upcoming game Need for Speed Shift. I would like to inform you that at EA customer support we don't have any information about upcoming game release and supporting criteria as the game is still unreleashed. We can only assist with issues related to in-game technical, accounts and billing itself. We would suggest you to post this issue on our forums, so that other players can help you with this. Official forums for Need for Spee can be located at the below given link: -

If there is anything else we can help you with please let us know.
Kind Regards,

Great innit! Once again they can't even be arsed to answer the question and suggest I ask other gamers to do their work for them! How the hell are we in the community supposed know that if they don't?
Could it be that we've hit on a big story here?
Are EA (and others) refusing to utilise the best performing platform to the best of it's abilities therefore making the massive difference in quality between consoles and medium to high end PC's meaningless?
Or are they are just plain lazy, incompetent, flat out lying or as I said in the thread NFSDrew locked trying to force us to buy the console which most of our PC's blow into the weeds e.g.

A cheap and cheerful PC costing up to £60 less than the PS3 which will run DX10 and with the change you can get the keyboard, mouse AAAAND a monitor cable to connect it to your TV! PS3 prices?:-

All with smaller hard drives but even the smallest of the three is STILL more money than the PC is.
On top of this PC versions of games are around 15 - 30% cheaper than the console version:-

When GRAW came out I bought it from my local supermarket and the assistant gave me the Xbox version by mistake, It was in a sealed white bag which I stupidly didn't open till I was home (DOH!). When I took it back the person at the customer service desk was confused why (when she scanned it through the till) the price on my receipt was different to the price she got scanning the game box and asked why there was a £20 difference between the Xbox version and the PC one, so I told her this was always the case and she said she was thinking of buying buy her grandson a console for his birthday. I suggested that she buy him a mid range PC instead because the savings on the game prices would quickly make up the higher hardware cost and he would also be able to do his homework on it too! To this day she shouts "hello!" when I walk in the store.
So in effect yes it looks like we PC owners are being coerced to buy the consoles we DON'T want or need because it appears EA (and others) are refusing to make the most of PC capabilities and are doing their best to deny this by not answering ANY direct questions regarding the matter!
As to the competition, EA ran their own one titled "Beat NFSDrew" which also did not include a PC based one and you're right about EA closing/dumping or burying threads they don't like or that question their policy towards PC gamers. (I expect this one'll be buried too very soon)
Come on EA, fess up what are you hiding? Why are you not giving the same quality of additional content to PC owners? Are Microsoft and Sony paying you to "forget" about the best format available? Is this why console games ALAWYS cost more than the PC version? Or are you just to tight fisted to give us the product that makes the most of what we already own and paid a hell of a lot more for than the price of a console which is obsolete even before it comes out?
Wonder if the same will happen here too?
Smiler-20
I would have purchased the game but after reading about how many people have had problems with the crashing/freezing, bad performance, poor 1080p quality (some things look too stretched) and lack of fixes, I won't be buying this game unless its going for less than £7.50(GBP) on Steam, and that'll only be if we see it come down to that price before march time, after march 2011 I would have forgotten about it and I'd be thinking about many other games that are soon to be released

This news article is from the last year. Nothing new to add ? I don't want a refund, I want this game to work properly. I can't hear the cars :(
