In part one of Mort's Custom Corner, William Mort, the vinyl-designer extraordinaire went through some of the typical pitfalls that beset most wannabe car designers in SHIFT. Now, we get to the good stuff: a quick, step-by-step instruction to create a basic vinyl wrap for people who struggle with the 'symmetry' element of vinyl design. Before we proceed, please note that this tutorial assumes you have reached level 19 and unlocked the 'Race Flag' vinyl category. This wrap can be applied to any car, but William has chosen his works converted Mitsubishi EVO. The first step after selecting your car is to pick the 'Race Flag 4' vinyl. Here are some photos: Step two is to make the flag as large as possible, stretch it out as far as it'll go on your car. Next, choose a color for the flag that is close to the color of your vehicle. After that, drape the flag over one side of your car. Try to adjust it from a specific element which is easy to spot. In this case, William used the corner - outlined in red - as his adjustment anchor. The next step is to repeat what you've just done on the other side of your vehicle. Eventually, if you like the pattern, you'll want to follow it for the top and rear of the car for a full feeling of symmetry. And you're finished. One cool thing about this pattern is you can use it on future vinyls, just get rid of 'Race Flag 4' when you no longer want to use it. William will return with another post in the next few days aimed at helping new designers with a simple vinyl application.

as a tutorial it is good for people who cant draw, BUT we shouldn't have this kind of nonsense if EA would have put the same vinyl system just like in previous nfs games. wtf ea? why did you think that this is better? well let me tell you- it is worse. i like making vinyls for my cars, but without the old vinyl system it takes me much too long, and it is one of the reasons i haven't played shift since new year.
Sweet car man. I've been wanting to do something with the racing flag vinyl for a while but just have never gotten around to doing it. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see what you make next.
