Matt and Mike Qualifying Runs

As we inch closer to Formula Drift Round 6 in Sonoma, CA, we wanted to share a couple of quick clips of Matt Powers and Mad Mike ripping through their qualifying runs at Round 5 in Las Vegas last month.

As you watch them drift through the course with relative ease, it's amazing what kind of pressure is actually weighing on each driver during their qualifying run(s). Each driver gets two runs to qualify for the Top 32, and only your best score out of both runs are counted. For many drivers, it becomes a waiting game to see if their score will hold up after all the drivers have run through the course. Every shift, pull of the hand brake, and turn of the wheel count toward winning the judges over with a perfect run, and the slightest mistake at any given moment could be the difference between a podium finish, or an early end to the weekend.
