Good news for fans of sportscar racing and Need for Speed SHIFT today, as the Automobile Club de l'Ouest - the governing body of Le Mans - is rumored to be approving the Nissan GT-R and Maserati MC12 race spec vehicles for competition in the Le Mans Series.
For the past five seasons, the MC12 has performed extremely well in the GT1 class of the FIA GT Championship, bringing home back-to-back championships in 2006-2007.
Need for Speed SHIFT collaborator Andrea Bertolini drives for Vitaphone Racing, the team backing the MC12 in FIA GT races. Both the MC12 and GT-R are prominently featured in SHIFT.
The GT-R that would be trying its luck in Le Mans is the 2009 Super-GT spec racer, which pumps out more than 500 horsepower. For more information on this story, visit Autoblog.

Any chance of getting Circuit de la Sarthe in the game too?
