Introducing SpeedBoost to Need for Speed World

Along with the announcement of this weekend Need for Speed World Client Test we also announced the NFS World in-game currency rightfully named SpeedBoost.

What is SpeedBoost?
SpeedBoost is the virtual currency in Need for Speed World and is used to make purchases of digital content for your account.  SpeedBoost can be redeemed on World.NeedforSpeed.com and in game.

How do I get SpeedBoost?
SpeedBoost can be purchased using real world currencies on World.NeedforSpeed.com.  Once you’ve made your initial purchase of SpeedBoost on the website you’ll be able to purchase more within Need for Speed World.

What is SpeedBoost used for?
SpeedBoost can be used to purchase in-game digital content such as Power Ups, Amplifiers & Car Rentals.

How do I use SpeedBoost in Need for Speed World?
There are a variety of ways to use SpeedBoost within Need for Speed World depending on what you want to use it on.  First off, however, you need to know how to access the SpeedBoost Console. To access the console, simply select the SpeedBoost “S” symbol in the upper-right hand corner of the in-game heads up display (here after “HUD”).

The SpeedBoost console is where you’ll be doing the majority of your purchases.  From here you’ll be able to purchase:

Power Ups
Select the POWERUPS tab:

On this tab you’ll be able to purchase bundles of Power Ups.  This means that you can purchase, for example, a bundle of five Nitrous power ups.  To purchase the bundles simply select the “SpeedBoost’ button on the bundle you wish to purchase.

Rental Cars
Select the ‘CARS FOR RENT’ tab:

This is where you’ll be able to rent a car for a preset amount of time.   A wide range of rental cars will always be available for you to rent using your SpeedBoost.  The cars will range from tuned versions of specific cars to stock versions of higher tiered cars that you may not have access to yet.  Renting cars is a great way of earning extra cash and rep.
 

Where else can I use SpeedBoost?
There are two other places that you can use SpeedBoost to make purchase:

In-Game Power Up Console
Player’s have the ability to purchase power ups within the in-game Power Up Console:

Like the image says:
1. Select the Power Up you want to purchase
2. Press the SpeedBoost button to confirm the purchase.

Simple as that!

World.NeedforSpeed.com Web Store
In the coming months we’ll be launching a store on World.NeedforSpeed.com where you can purchase Power Ups, Car Rentals, Amplifiers and more Boost without having to go into the game.  All purchase you make on the webstore will immediately be reflected within the game.

Furthermore, the webstore will feature bundles that will not be available in the in-game SpeedBoost console.  Bundles will be made up of combinations of power ups, car rentals, and amplifiers.

SpeedBoost will be available for use in the next beta.  For the immediate betas, we’ll be giving player’s a preset amount of SpeedBoost that they can use to purchase whatever they want.  In future betas, we’ll be introducing the ability to purchase additional SpeedBoost as well as the ability to use SpeedBoost within the webstore.
