On October 20, our car of the day was the Shelby Terlingua, a performance coupe made from the shell of a V6 Ford Mustang by master car designer Carroll Shelby. Mr. Shelby has been busy recently, and if you own a Ford Mustang GT built between 2005-2009, you'll want to pay attention.
Announced last week away from the buzz that was SEMA, a new turbocharged Mustang package for fifth-generation ponycars is available now, and if you're looking for a bit of extra oomph in your 'Stang, you won't be disappointed.
Here are just a few of the standard features of this new package: 550 horsepower at the crank with a Turbonetics single-turbo system, Borla exhaust, Shelby grille, 18" chrome aluminum wheels and a short throw shifter.
Some of the options for this package include: an 8-point rollcage, performance clutch, Shelby GT-H front end and a special, stylized Shelby rear end.
The price - you provide the car - is $21,599, so it may be time to start cutting coupons if you want the ultimate in Mustang performance without having to step up to a GT500.

Good question that I don't know that answer to. I would speculate that some people who bought the previous-gen have paid theirs off and may be looking for a new car, possibly a GT500 - but applying this kit would give similar performance without having to sell their original GT.

It's cool, but why is it only offered on last gen's mustang? Maybe they thought it would steal money from the FRPP (Ford Racing Performance Products).
