Make Trouble...with the Cops

Most Wanted is all about the intense action of a high-speed pursuit. Check out the video to see what can happen when a player takes on the best of Fairhaven City in a pursuit that escalates off the scale. Find out how to shake cop SUVs and SWAT trucks and take in some newly-revealed locations.
Like the game, this video's high-speed and non-stop, so we thought it might be cool to break out some of the action and add a little commentary.
It starts with a player screeching up to parked Nissan GT-R outside a gas station and switching from a heavily damaged Boss 302. The GT-R’s one of our all-time favorite cars and a Need for Speed staple – fast, solid, high-tech. We love it, you love it: of course it's in the game.

This sweet white model’s located at what we call a Jack Spot. We’re trying to get away from that old convention of grinding to unlock all the cars, so we’ve hidden almost every car throughout the open world. Just drive up and hit a button to switch. It’s fast and easy, which is great, because with the cops in tow, you won’t get much time. The longer the pursuit, the more Fairhaven PD will throw at you, and the constant action takes its toll on your car. Knowing where the nearest Jack Spot is can save your skin.
Next comes an elite tactic that most players won’t see in action until you're a good few hours into the game. You’re trapped between hordes of chasing cops and a road block stretching across the freeway. With no way through, pull a high-speed doughnut, looping round a pursuing cop and inviting him to punch a perfect GT-R sized hole in the roadblock and allowing you to make your escape. Beautiful.

A quick look-back down the freeway reveals the scale of the pursuit. You can switch to this view anytime using the right thumbstick for an instant read on what the cops are doing. In the hands of skilled players, look-back is a valuable tool letting you shake cops with nothing more than a late turn off the freeway.

In Most Wanted, exploration is key. In this sequence, our wily player tows a sprawling cop escort through the fuselage of a junked aircraft to swing the odds heavily in his favour. Disused airfield? Tricky fuselage jump? Burnout fans: you know the drill!

The GT-R is nimble enough to slip between cops when the action slows down in an open play-area like this one…

And tough enough to beat the crap out of them, if your chosen tactic is to turn and fight.

A close-up of the car reveals the extent of the damage. As the chase progresses, your car picks up dirt and battle scars. Damage will eventually impact the handling of the car. We don’t recommend shooting through a roadblock or spike strip and then trying to lose the cops on rims, sparks flying, but sometimes that’s what it takes.

In those instants, knowledge of the city pays off, big-time. Look out for the hundreds of gas stations and Jack Spots peppered through Fairhaven. Knowing when to switch your much-loved GT-R for a pristine R8 GT Spyder can be the difference between a night in a cell and high score heaven.

We’re getting close now: after close to two-years in development by Criterion Games, the team that brought you Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted hits stores on 30th October.
You know you want it, why not buy it now?
It's the only way to be sure.
