NFS Kev on the NFS SHIFT PC Demo

Today I had a chance to challenge my colleagues at EA while playing the PC demo – I obviously already predetermined I was going to win!  We had a wicked setup, we played it on a crystal clear TV screen and we hooked up the Xbox controller.  My first impression when I started playing was the mind blowing graphics.  Having played the game on both consoles, I got to say that the PC version with the higher resolution was most impressive.  Our pride was definitely on the line and that was enough for us to bring our A game on to the track. To make it fair, we all had to race in the London Raceway and we all had to use the Dodge Viper and whoever had the fastest lap time would be crowned NFS SHIFT KING or QUEEN for the day.  The Viper is a powerful beast and if you’re not careful it’s easy to hit the wall going 100mph!!! When it happened to me, I got a firsthand look at dynamic crash effect.  So when I collided with the wall violently, my whole view was blurry and it took a couple of seconds for me to re-gain focus.  I have to say that crash sequence is visually stunning.   It made me feel that the horrific crash actually happened and it made me think twice about going 100mph on my next corner.  In the default setting, the handling mode was on easy and the AI difficulty was on normal.  So being the modest guy that I am, I left the settings the way it was.  From those settings, the CPU would help me slow down when approaching a corner and it also helped me with my handling of the car.  I highly recommend everyone to start racing at these settings. For the race, I was able to check out the four different views and even though I am not much of a cockpit view kind of guy, I grew to like it.  The detail in the cockpit is simply beautiful, from the cockpit I had the full 180 degree view, I was able to look both sides to see who might be passing me and also watch as I shift gears.  Back to the race after a couple of laps, my best lap time was 1:35.  Mike was next and his best time was 1:47, and Case had a time of 1:48. I WON!The demo gives you a good snippet of what you can expect from this game.  If you love and appreciate the demo, you will love the full version of the game.  If you're looking to download the Need for Speed SHIFT PC Demo, you can get it here.  - NFS Kev

Oh, believe me, we didn't let on to anyone else that we were having a competition, especially the QA guys! I didn't want my time posted because it was so embarrassing, but Kevin is bigger than me.

I guess you need someone else in the room to write down your time, since there's no after race screen with the time in the demo. Which is a shame, since the demo can't really be used for any PBRC (Picture Based Racing Competition) without an after race results screen.

You guys are lucky QA wasn't there, you would've had nooo chance :P

REMATCH!...For the record..I was unaware there was a competition till I was told to 2 seconds before racing..UNFAIR - I can beat you guys any day.. :) :)
