In Need for Speed Most Wanted, freedom is everything. Drive anywhere, explore the world, hang out with your friends, compete in challenges or toy with the cops.

We’ve worked hard to design and build a large, open city environment around 3 fun ideas: Race, Chase and Explore.

Race

Our races are about blasting across town and shooting through checkpoints, not keeping to prescribed, walled-in routes.

Knowledge of the world will help you anticipate turns or shortcuts and give you the edge over your friends, whether you’re racing head-to-head or taking on their Autolog records.

For Most Wanted, we've evolved our handling to give you crisper control in the dense city grid and to deliver a deeper, more physical feel that shows off the different characteristics of the cars.

Chase

Fairhaven’s policed by fast, tough, aggressive cops.

These guys aren’t playing games. But you’re well equipped to handle them.  It’s great fun to bait these guys, escalate the pursuit and then ditch them – your way.

Hit jumps and shortcuts, switch cars, hide out or do what your car does best: whether that’s handling off-road, clearing jumps, hitting 200+ MPH down straight lines or whipping through back alleys.  The choice is yours.

And our live online play is not just about racing.  Burnout fans will testify to the awesomeness of the Freeburn Challenge gameplay that forms the foundation of our multiplayer.  It's all about open world.  To find out more, check out our multiplayer post.

Explore

If you want to hang out with your friends, chat and compare cars, Fairhaven’s just the place to do it.

There's plenty to keep you occupied as the entire city is open from the start.  Drive anywhere from freeways to quarries to dense urban areas and see what each car can do.

We’re big on “collectible gameplay”.  The world’s loaded with hundreds of billboards, garages, drive-thrus and Jack Spots.  Each one offers different challenges.  Can you find them all?

Autolog records everything you do and broadcasts your acheivements to your friends.  If your friends have been busy, your Fairhaven will be filled with their best times, jump distances and speeds.

Thanks to Autolog, you're never alone in Fairhaven, even when you're friends are offline.

As an avid Burnout and more-over a Paradise fan now at the ripe old age of 41yrs, I can honestly say that this is on par with the biggest game ever in terms of waiting with baited breath, of course you know I mean GTA5, but this monster now sounds like its going to trump the online element of Paradise... 12 cars together will be total bloomin chaos (brought to a calming halt by the Criterion boys of course) I don't want to know too much but after reading that you just find a car and sort its 5 challenges in any order...well, what can I say but well done, "THIS IS HOW REAL GAME-HEADS LIKE TO PLAY" they know what we want and they are giving it to us straight away, plenty to do and in any order, I bet theres a few eggs in there too, outside of the obvious earlier mentioned behemoth this is the only other game i've pre-ordered, its gonna be a sick killer with kudos for a detox breakfast... oh yeah lemon and seasalt all the way baby.
