Congratulations to user0815DoeRT who won last week's SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Hot Lap Challenge!  As the winner he got to choose the car & track for this week's Hot Lap so we're racing on Autopolis International GP with the Acura NSX (with Works upgrade).

This week is also a special week because we had NFSCoulter up in Vancouver so I got him to give me some on the fly track tips while I was recording the Hot Lap.

If you've looking for a tuning set up for the NSX or want to share your set up with the community you can do so on NFSUnlimited.net.

The racer with the best time at the end of the week wins bragging rights on the Need for Speed Facebook page (3.4 million fans!) and gets to pick the next weeks Hot Lap car and track.  But even if you don't have the best time you still have a chance to win a very cool prize.  Everyone who beats my lap time will get entered into a draw.  From the pool of entries, we'll randomly draw a winner who will get a pair of SHIFT 2 ear buds!

If you want to enter into the Hot Lap competition all you need to do is follow the steps below:
- Launch into a race using the same car (customization & tuning is allowed) and track that I used
- Record your full race using any recording device (mobile phone, camcorder, digital camera, etc) ensuring that you capture the post-race screen showing your best lap time
- Upload the video of your race to YouTube as a response to the official Hot Lap video on the Need for Speed YouTube channel

Some simple rules for this contest:
- Your video must show the entire race
- you must use the same car (customization & tuning is allowed) we used in the official Hot Lap video
- Your video must clearly display the game's HUD (specifically the race timer) during the race
- Your video must clearly show your lap time(s) on the post race screen
- Please do not include any foul or offensive language in your video
- Videos must be submitted as a response to the official NFS YouTube video
- Use of cheat programs or trainers is prohibited
- A player can only win one week in a row

Good Luck!

It's time for another SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED community gaming session!  This week NFSDrew and NFSCoulter are jumping online to start racing at 5pm (PST) sharp! They'll be on PS3 (PSN: NFSCoulter) and XBOX 360 (GT: NFSDrew) turning laps until about 7pm. There's also a chance they hop over and play some Hot Pursuit as well, so keep your eyes peeled for them in your friend's list!

Once again the Late Night Community Session is present by Wendy's.  Stop by and check out their Facebook page after you go out and grab some tasty chow from them.

In what was the most difficult Track Tips yet for technical reasons, this week NFSCoulter takes an American icon to the European circuit of Riviera Monte Grande. The Corvette C6.R GT1 is the definition of raw power, making it the worst match possible for the Riviera track, which maintains numerous tight corners.

NFSDrew ran his Hot Lap in a blazing 1:51. If you're having some trouble beating him, check out the video above. You might pick up a few tips!

Congratulations again to NfSmicrak who has won the SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Hot Lap Challenge two weeks in a row!  As the winner he got to choose the car & track for this week's Hot Lap so we're racing on Riviera Monte Grande with the Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1.

If you've looking for a tuning set up for the Corvette or want to share your set up with the community you can do so on NFSUnlimited.net.

The racer with the best time at the end of the week wins bragging rights on the Need for Speed Facebook page (3.3 million fans!) and gets to pick the next weeks Hot Lap car and track.  But even if you don't have the best time you still have a chance to win a very cool prize.  Everyone who beats my lap time will get entered into a draw.  From the pool of entries, we'll randomly draw a winner who will get a pair of SHIFT 2 ear buds!

Good Luck!

Another week has flown by, which means a review is in order to catch up on all the things that you may have missed.

This wwek we started a new Need for Speed The Run video series called Need for Speed The Run Insider Series.  This series will feature members of the development team talking about their work and the features they are working on as well as answering questions from the community.  Click here to find out more.

We announced the Summer of Speed, which features huge DLC discounts on a variety of Need for Speed games, including Hot Pursuit, SHIFT, and a sweet Burnout Paradise bundle. Right now this is only available on the PlayStation Store in North America.

Speaking of Burnout, a new download-only title from Criterion was introduced. Burnout CRASH! is inspired by pinball, retro music and game shows.  It features three games modes and in all three the purpose is to drive into an intersection, create the most massive pile ups possible and blow up everything in sight! If you haven’t downloaded it yet, go check it out. Seriously, stop reading and go buy it. (Just kidding. Don’t stop reading, but AFTER, ok?)

In SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED news, NFSDrew took a slick Corvette Sting Ray for a Hot Lap around Ambush Canyon. After laying down a scintillating time of 1:25.886, the gauntlet had been thrown. NFSCoulter flew up to Vancouver and spent an afternoon going back and forth with Drew as they lowered the lap times, and eventually came up with a solid Track Tips video.

Team Need for Speed roared to a second place finish over the weekend, even though they were on a borrowed BMW chassis, making it that much more impressive. They remain in second in the European Championship.

Elsewhere, Fredric Aasbo is preparing for the European Drift Tour and we have a nice behind-the-scenes look at what he’s up to. This weekend’s Gatebil event is one of the largest modified car festivals in Europe and Fredric happens to be the hometown hero.

Also in Europe, we’re looking for a spokesmodel! EA and Need for Speed are conducting the 2011 “Need for Speed European Spokesmodel Search.” This European continent wide search is set to discover two women with boundless energy, an outgoing personality and an edgy style fused with a passion for cars and gaming.

There’s also a feature on Matt Powers, describing a ride-along with him and an instance where he let the photographers pit for him.

In the land of World, this week’s maintenance window provided a bug fix for the Murcielago Cop Edition and added an Audi TT RS “Vesna” with some nice vinyls and 300+hp.

We also posted a new blog for Need for Speed The Run and we might even start revealing cars next week!

The 41st edition of Ask Marc was posted today which you can watch here.

Lastly, another edition of the Need for Speed Podcast is available. The 87th episode is on iTunes, our RSS feed, and can be streamed from here. Ling joins the crew while NFSCoulter quotes Gary Coleman, discusses flipping off race cars, and NFSDrew talks muscle cars and prizes!

Congratulations to NfSmicrak who won last week's Hot Lap!  As the winner he got to choose the car & track for this week's SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Hot Lap so we're racing on Ambush Canyon with the Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray.  Here is the tuning set up I used for the Sting Ray:

Works Converted: Yes
Steering: 61
Gearing: 3
Balance: 13
Downforce: 13

If you've got a better set up and want to share it with the community you can share on NFSUnlimited.net.

The racer with the best time at the end of the week wins bragging rights on the Need for Speed Facebook Fan page (3.25 million fans!) and gets to pick the next weeks Hot Lap car and track.  But even if you don't have the best time you still have a chance to win a very cool prize.  Everyone who beats my lap time will get entered into a draw.  From the pool of entries, we'll randomly draw a winner who will get a pair of SHIFT 2 ear buds!

Good Luck!

This week NFSCoulter is in the Vancouver office, allowing both he and NFSDrew to go through Ambush Canyon. The result is a turn-by-turn breakdown of the the track, giving some great insight to those that want to beat NFSDrew's Hot Lap this week. Drew provides some excellent bits of information that even the quickest driver's might pass over, so it's definitely worth watching!

In an area of Spain more famous for its stampeding bulls, a new beast reigned supreme. Team Need for Speed’s BMW Z4 GT3 cars cut through the competition in spectacular fashion. In front of a healthy and lively crowd, they demonstrated the mechanical aggression, supreme power and devilish good looks that has made the team a fan favorite.

Team Need For Speed sporting a temporary new all white livery continued to dominate the GT3 European Championship with a nail-biting second place finish at Navarra, Spain in Race 1. Although Race 2 was hampered by a broken steering column which saw a 13th place finish, it was enough to ensure that the team remained only 4 points behind the championship leaders at the half way mark in the FIA GT3 Championship.

A fantastic effort by Team Need for Speed to which keeps them in second place in the FIA GT3 European Championship.

Next stop: Paul Ricard, France (14 days and counting…)

Last week the winner of the Hot Lap was Killjoy, and because of his great driving, he was able to choose this week's Hot Lap. NFSDrew threw down the gauntlet on Miami Biscayne Blvd in a Mazda MX-5 with the Works package. As usual, if you're having trouble dropping into the low 1:28's, NFSCoulter is has got another Track Tips video to help you beat Drew.

Check it out.
