Another week is in the books, and Need for Speed has spent it wondering about some of your favorite titles from the past.
All week we’ve been posting polls on Facebook, asking the fans about their most memorable games, as well as a few others.
We’ve also been asking for your votes on our Photo Mode contests. Every day we put up a new album and next week we’ll reveal the finalists!

Day 3
NFSCoulter ran his Time Attack on the NFS Edition Showdown Challenge Series event which you can see here.
Team Need for Speed’s Fredric Aasbo gave a look back on his fantastic season on Speedhunters. It’s a fantastic read, and definitely worth a look.
In Need for Speed World, the Community Spotlight was on Hammer, a long-time fan from Egypt. They were also giving away codes for a new Alfa Romeo on Tweet it Up Thursdays!
Two more cars also made their debut: the Porsche 911 Carrera S, and the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione.

Ever wonder how Need for Speed takes the most beautiful cars in the world and puts them into the game?
Vehicle Art Director, Carl Jarret, and Vehicle Styling Director, Andy Blackmore, have written a full article on how cars in the real-world are implemented into The Run, using the Lamborghini Aventador as an example. It's a completely behind-the-scenes look at wireframes, polygons, and other details that all go into making the cars look as realistic as possible when you drive them. Not only that, but it discusses their influences for creating body kits and graphics!
You can read the full article on Speedhunters.

Exclusive to SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED, Standing Mile is a lot like Drag racing except for one very big difference; in a Standing Mile the objective is speed not time. Your goal in Standing Mile is to reach the highest possible speed at the end of one mile. The driver with the fastest speed wins the race.
This means that you're going to have to tune your cars much differently than you would for a drag race. You're going to have to find that very fine balance between acceleration and top speed because in the end, one mile isn't that long when you're going over 250 MPH.
The Standing Mile rival is Marc “Koz” Kozeluh who is one of the builders of the car he'll be driving, the Dodge Viper TWINS TURBO. Beat him and you'll be rewarded with his car!

It's a big day because the SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Speedhunters Pack is available for download now! I just logged on to Xbox LIVE to check and it is indeed there...ready to download. The Speedhunters Pack will be available on the PlayStation Network as soon as it comes back up.
Featured in the Speedhunters Pack are two new game modes; Drag and Standing Mile. Also included in the pack are 14 new cars, two of which are cars awarded to you when you beat the Drag or Standing Mile rivals, and two new career branches with nine new events to encourage some friendly Autolog competition with your friends.
One thing to note about the new modes; players will only be able to use the manual gear change so that they can really feel what it’s like to be in the driver’s seat. This means the traction control will be forced off and the HUD will display a new rev counter and gear indicator.
One other thing...you should keep your eye on the Need for Speed Twitter feed over the next couple days because we may just be giving away codes that will give you the Speedhunters Pack for free!

Since the upcoming Speedhunters Pack for the SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED racing game has 12 new specially tuned cars we just had to bring back one more Manufacturer Monday. In this episode, we're featuring the following cars:
- Dodge Challenger RT Speedhunters Edition
- Lexus LFA Speedhunters Edition
- Mazda RX-7 (FC3S) Speedhunters Edition
- McLaren MP4-12C Speedhunters Edition
- Pagani Huayra Speedhunters Edition
- Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution 2 Speedhunters Edition
- Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Speedhunters Edition
- Mitsubishi Lancer EVOLUTION IX MR-edition Speedhunters Edition
- Nissan Fairlady 240ZG (S30) Speedhunters Edition
- Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (C10) Speedhunters Edition
- Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) Speedhunters Edition
- Toyota Supra Speedhunters Edition
All of these cars have been specially tuned by the Speedhunters themselves and are just beasts on the track. You can read more about each car by clicking the link above but I wanted to share some knowledge about my personal favorite...the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution 2.
I wasn't really much of a fan of this car until SHIFT 2. I really like the style of the car, very old school box style that you just don't see too much anymore. In the SHIFT 2 career I used the 190E in a few different career branches and was really impressed with the way it drove. Then I took it online and have done pretty good with it racking up a bunch of podium finishes.
If you thought the standard Mercedes-Benz 190 E Evo 2 was a screamer, check out the Speedhunters edition in SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED, which replaces the old engine with a beefier V8 and adds a full roll cage, bad-ass black wheels and flared fenders.

Here we are on Friday, May 13. It's time for the Need for Speed Week in Review.
It was a huge week for SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED, with the announcement of the Speedhunters downloadable content pack, which will be available on Xbox 360 and - hopefully - PlayStation 3 on May 17 for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99. The fastest racing game around gets even faster with two exciting new racing modes, Standing Mile and Drag, 14 cars - with 12 specificially tuned by the leaders in car culture at Speedhunters - 3 new racing areas and 6 new achievements and trophies. The Legends Pack DLC is also currently available, so check that out as well.
Also in SHIFT 2, we have the Dr Pepper Hot Lap and Photo Mode competitions still going on, so post a video response to NFSDrew's Hot Lap time, and send your photos of the Dr Pepper Chevrolet Camaro SS to #SHIFT2DrPepper for a chance to win prizes.
The IE9 Fastest Wins Sweepstakes is tearing up the tarmac until May 15, so get your entries in before the deadline or prepare for disappointment. An Xbox 360 signed by the Need for Speed development team, 25 EA games for a year, and a Logitech racing wheel are up for grabs.
One last - but certainly not least - SHIFT 2 item is NFSCoulter's new 'Track Tips' video blog, where he goes into great detail to explain how to shave valuable seconds off your times in-game. He starts this week with Glendale East, which is the track you'll be tackling in the Dr Pepper Camaro for the third edition of the Hot Lap mentioned above. We want to hear what you think about these posts, so please leave a comment.
This week in Need for Speed World, we had a chance to catch up with producer Marc De Vellis for the 35th edition of Ask Marc.
Also, we did a World maintenance window on Tuesday, with one major development being the Dodge Viper as the newest SpeedBoost top-up car.
Recently, we partnered with EA Mobile on Facebook to give away a BlackBerry PlayBook loaded with Need for Speed games, so be sure to enter that competition on the EA Mobile Facebook page.
It was a big week for Team Need for Speed, with Matt Powers and Fredric Aasbo both making the top 16 in Formula Drift Round 2 at Road Atlanta. Larry Chen was at the track and had lots of shots from the event on our Facebook page, as well as an informative recap.
In the 2011 FIA GT3 opener in Algarve, Portugal, Team Need for Speed emerged victorious in round one, taking both the first and second slots in the gorgeous Team NFS BMW Z4 GT3. Lots of outstanding photos from the event are here.
What better way to wrap up the week in review with the 79th edition of the Need for Speed Podcast, which is now available on iTunes, our RSS feed, and streaming in the player below. This week, Drew, Greg, Coulter, and Kirk tackle the Speedhunters DLC for SHIFT 2, a little nugget about Need for Speed The Run, as well as all the news on World, Team Need for Speed, and the off-topic topic. Have an outstanding weekend!

Yesterday we showed you the three new locations coming in the SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Speedhunters Pack. Today we're revealing one of the new rivals introduced in the pack, the Drag rival.
The drag rival is none other than Chris Rado and he will be piloting the WORLD Racing Pro-FWD Reaper SCION tC which can be yours if you manage to beat him on the quarter mile. Famous for his devil-may-care racing style and colorful personality on the time attack series, Chris Rado pilots one of the most unique cars you'll see in SHIFT 2 Unleashed: the Team Need for Speed Scion tC, which boasts more than 1,200 horsepower.
Rado is also the owner of WORLD Racing, a professional drag race, time attack and show circuit team. In 2009, while behind the wheel of his beloved tC, he set the world record for a front-wheel-drive car with a 6.94s 1/4 mile.
