The seventh Need for Speed The Run Time Attack community challenge has begun!

This is a weekly challenge where we put the community's driving skills to the test by challenging everyone to beat our times in a Challenge Series event. NFSDrew laid down another platinum time so once again it's going to take some skill to beat his time of 1:25.03 in the Outrun event in the Nevada Dreams Challenge Series

Here's how to enter this challenge:
1. Beat NFSDrew's time in the same Challenge Series event
2. Grab a picture of your race time on the post-race screen
3. Twitpic it to @NeedForSpeed with the hashtag #NFSTheRunTimeAttack

(We'll also take video entries; just be sure to submit your video as a response to our Time Attack video on YouTube)

At the end of the week we'll randomly draw from the pool of all entries one lucky winner who will receive a very cool prize from the Need for Speed swag cabinet!

A couple of rules you need to be aware of:
- There are no regional restrictions for this challenge. Anybody anywhere in the world can enter!
- This competition is open to all platforms.
- You can use any car available in the Challenge Series event
- Your twitpic and/or video must clearly display your race time. If we can't read it, it won't be considered a valid entry
- If you do choose to submit via YouTube video, it must be submitted as a response to our video
- Use of cheat programs or trainers is prohibited
- A player can only win one week in a row

Bring it on!

It looks like we have a winner to the question, “What’s your favorite Need for Speed?”

For the past few weeks, we’ve been posting polls to Facebook, narrowing down the results. Our final vote this week came down to Underground 2 and Most Wanted.

Guess which one you guys wanted most? (See what I did there?)

After 2 weeks of having the NFS Edition Showdown Pt.2 Time Attack up, it’s time we switched things up. Check out the brand new Time Attack challenge on the Ascension event in the Winter Blast Challenge Series! NFSDrew shows off his skills and gives some great tips on how to master this icy event!

On Tuesday, we posted a video of the ultimate drag race. Eleven of the most glamorous super cars took to an empty airstrip and waited for the green flag. If you don’t know who won, you have to watch this video.

Jiggsy posted his video of the NFS The Run launch in Australia. Those Aussie’s definitely know how to party.

A special shoutout to YouTube user R3ny3au (Ramon) who created an incredible SHIFT 2 video, including some of the finest vinyl work we’ve ever seen!

There were also some Dr Pepper codes given away, allowing you to have some great exclusive content in The Run. Congrats to those that got the codes!

In Need for Speed World, Drew and Marc put up another episode of Ask Marc. Take a look if your questions were answered.

The Lexus LFA is here to stay in World, and Tweet it Up Thursdays would give you a chance to get the beautiful Snowflake 2.0 car.

The Podcast this week was a turning point for Coulter, as he finally ate a food he considers gross. Then pocketed $100. The episode is now up on iTunes, our RSS feed.

The seventh Need for Speed The Run Time Attack community challenge has begun!

This is a weekly challenge where we put the community's driving skills to the test by challenging everyone to beat our times in a Challenge Series event. It’s NFSDrew’s turn to this week and he laid down a platinum time of 2:50.87 in the Ascension event in the Winter Blast Challenge Series. You're going to have to have a really good race to beat his time!

Here's how to enter this challenge:
1. Beat NFSDrew's time in the same Challenge Series event
2. Grab a picture of your race time on the post-race screen
3. Twitpic it to @NeedForSpeed with the hashtag #NFSTheRunTimeAttack

Another week is in the books, and Need for Speed has spent it wondering about some of your favorite titles from the past.

All week we’ve been posting polls on Facebook, asking the fans about their most memorable games, as well as a few others.

We’ve also been asking for your votes on our Photo Mode contests. Every day we put up a new album and next week we’ll reveal the finalists!

Day 3

NFSCoulter ran his Time Attack on the NFS Edition Showdown Challenge Series event which you can see here.

Team Need for Speed’s Fredric Aasbo gave a look back on his fantastic season on Speedhunters. It’s a fantastic read, and definitely worth a look.

In Need for Speed World, the Community Spotlight was on Hammer, a long-time fan from Egypt. They were also giving away codes for a new Alfa Romeo on Tweet it Up Thursdays!

Two more cars also made their debut: the Porsche 911 Carrera S, and the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione

Back by popular demand (and because NFSCoulter wanted a shot at the sweet jumps in the beginning), we've got a new Time Attack this week.

NFSCoulter ran a faster time for you to beat, but all the practice you did on NFS Edition Showdown before will pay off because we're not changing the Challenge Series!

If you can beat 2:41.07 on NFS Edition Showdown in the Plains Interstate Challenge Series, here's what to do:

1. Beat NFSCoulter's time in the same Challenge Series event
2. Grab a picture of your race time on the post-race screen
3. Twitpic it to @NeedForSpeed with the hashtag #NFSTheRunTimeAttack.

(We'll also take video entries; just be sure to submit your video as a response to our Time Attack video on YouTube)

Good luck!

Congratulations to Killjoy who won the last SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Hot Lap Challenge!  As the winner he got to choose the car & track for this week's Hot Lap so we're racing on the 1975 configuration of Silverstone with a tricked up Shelby Cobra 427.

Killjoy also provided a secret setup for the car, but NFSCoulter was playing on Drew's XBOX which didn't have enough in-game cash to afford it all the tuning.

The racer with the best time at the end of the week wins bragging rights on the Need for Speed Facebook page (almost 4 million fans!) and gets to pick the next weeks Hot Lap car and track.  But even if you don't have the best time you still have a chance to win a very cool prize.  Everyone who beats my lap time will get entered into a draw.  From the pool of entries, we'll randomly draw a winner who will get a pair of SHIFT 2 ear buds!

If you want to enter into the Hot Lap competition all you need to do is follow the steps below:
- Launch into a race using the same car (customization & tuning is allowed) and track that I used
- Record your full race using any recording device (mobile phone, camcorder, digital camera, etc) ensuring that you capture the post-race screen showing your best lap time
- Upload the video of your race to YouTube as a response to the official Hot Lap video on the Need for Speed YouTube channel

Some simple rules for this contest:
- Your video must show the entire race
- you must use the same car (customization & tuning is allowed) we used in the official Hot Lap video
- Your video must clearly display the game's HUD (specifically the race timer) during the race
- Your video must clearly show your lap time(s) on the post race screen
- Please do not include any foul or offensive language in your video
- Videos must be submitted as a response to the official NFS YouTube video
- Use of cheat programs or trainers is prohibited
- A player can only win one week in a row

Congratulations to NACSPEED who won last week's SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Hot Lap Challenge!  As the winner he got to choose the car & track for this week's Hot Lap so we're racing on the Nordschleife with the Lamborghini Murcielego LP640 (Minty Fresh!).

If you've looking for a tuning set up for the Delta or want to share your set up with the community you can do so on NFSUnlimited.net.

The racer with the best time at the end of the week wins bragging rights on the Need for Speed Facebook page (3.7 million fans!) and gets to pick the next weeks Hot Lap car and track.  But even if you don't have the best time you still have a chance to win a very cool prize.  Everyone who beats my lap time will get entered into a draw.  From the pool of entries, we'll randomly draw a winner who will get a pair of SHIFT 2 ear buds!

Lucky number 13!  Congratulations to schudo37-DoeRT who won last week's SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Hot Lap Challenge!  As the winner he got to choose the car & track for this week's Hot Lap so we're racing on Circuit Zolder with the Lancia Delta HF Integrale (with Works upgrade).

If you've looking for a tuning set up for the Delta or want to share your set up with the community you can do so on NFSUnlimited.net.  I got the Delta tuned pretty good for Zolder so if you want you can grab my set up here.

The racer with the best time at the end of the week wins bragging rights on the Need for Speed Facebook page (3.55 million fans!) and gets to pick the next weeks Hot Lap car and track.  But even if you don't have the best time you still have a chance to win a very cool prize.  Everyone who beats my lap time will get entered into a draw.  From the pool of entries, we'll randomly draw a winner who will get a pair of SHIFT 2 ear buds!
